Christmas decoration with Magnolia (2)

A shadow box with Magnolia for Christmas home décor.
I had this frame lying around for a couple of years and sometimes I would change the picture in it, but now it had been waiting for me with a project inside and never completed. So as I am into making Christmas decorations, this little frame is going to be part of it.
I used 2 Magnolia stamps ans 2 stamps from Lily of the Valley and 1 stamp from Just-Rite, all stamped in Distress inks and coloured with them.

How I started my initial idea; My Mind's Eye papers for the backdrop and the snowflakes. the snowflake are made with Spellbinders dies and I also cut them out of felt.

The shadow box, finally finished with all the details added. Little flowers from Kaisercraft sprayed with Glimmer Mist and some McGill punched branches. The girls are all ready for the party, dressed in blue.

I just had to add some Stickles for sparkle  on their clothing.

I did a little paper-piecing on the gift box and used the same paper as in the background circle.

The snowflakes have got a little pearl as centre made with Viva pens. The oval stamp has been embossed with holographic powder and then distressed to make the sentiment stand out.

Almost everything has been distressed and I have put Picket Fence Crackle Paint on some edges for a snow-look

Gable Box

Another effort, courtesy of the Scor-Pal. This time I have tried a gable box.
I used DCWV cardstock and Basic Grey paper.
The stamp is from Just-Rite and coloured with Copics, Glossy Accents and some glitter powder.

 The sadle stitch ribbon is from Papertrey Ink.

The flower is from Kaisercraft and sprayed with GlimmerMist in Lemon, Bronze and Creme de Chocolat.
The button is from Basic Grey.

Second Monogram card and blog candy winner

Unbelievable, but yes, I did win! I 'm the winner of the blog candy over on Andrea's blog Work in Progress. Thanks Andrea.

Do pay her a visit, she has her blog now for one year and she does make wonderful things.

She has also recently made it to the JUGS DT.

Can't wait for the candy to arrive, some goodies from Papertrey Ink. Yippie!

Now on to my card; the second one of a batch of Monogram card I am making for my sweet mother.

Kept it really simple again; some embossing, Martha Stewart border punch, Coordinations cardstock, Prima and Hero Arts flowers and vintage pink Glimmer Mist. Love that stuff.

Monogram card

This is my first attempt at a monogram card. I made this one with my mom's initials. I made the background paper with some stamps from Basic Grey.
I am not fully satisfied with them as they tend to let the ink bubble on them. I used Memento Tuxedo Black. Maybe it is because they are quite new.
I only wanted to use 3 colors to keep it soft and decided to go with black, rose and cream.

Supplies: Just Rite Special Occasion Monogram set, scalloped punch and Nestabilities, satin ribbon from Paperchase, Coordinations cardstock.

I 've got a simple card to share with you today.

I used K&Co paper Que Sera Sera paper and Coordinations cardstock so I could sand the embossing.

The stamp is from Just-Rite and allows you to choose the sentiment. I colored with Copics and Shimmerz and changed the color of the Making Memories brad with Copic and put flower bead caps behind it.

I cut the image with Spellbinders large scalloped die set, which isn't the ideal size for the stamp, but the only oval I have. Apparently the normal large oval should fit.

I haven't put away my color pencils yet. I colored this Greeting Farm stamp with my aquarelle pencils and some Sakura gelpens.

The flowers are made with Spellbinders flowers creations and the sentiment is made with Just Rite stamps.

Some Basic Grey June Bug paper to brighten it all up, with some flower brads from Making Memories.

I'm entering this card in 2 challenges; A Spoon Full of Sugar: floral delight and Simon Says Stamp!: a recipe.

I folded one edge on the background paper, this idea I got from the Cardmaker's Sketch Book. I like their books and although I don't follow the CPS-blog on a regular basis, I find them very inspiring.

Two snowfriends

Haha, maybe the last of all my Christmas card makings. Yet I do not know for sure.
Let's see; 2 jolly cards made with the limited edition snowfriends cartridge and some lovely paper from My Minds Eye.

I added a sentiment from the JustRite set and I used Nestabilities to cut out the image part to get a 3D effect. The cardstock is from American Crafts and Coordinations.

On this little man I added the mouth with black gel pen. I also used Martha Stewart border punches and some ribbon.

Hope you like it. I 'm off to bed, it was my first day back to work and I didn't sleep very well the night before. Woke up at 2 am with a drilling headache and I didn't manage to fall asleep again after the painkillers. I'm worrying way to much about my work, a good thing I've got my hobby.

A Christmas card for my sister

Sad news; Borders is in administration. Our favourite bookstore. That's where I get my American Craft magazines from. It's a shame. All we have left is Waterstones and they don't do mags. WHSmith does Cards and Scrapbook trends, but it's not the same. Borders also had Martha Stewart magazines and other American home decor mags. I will miss them. My DH was really down when he discovered the news. No more browsing in the guitar mags for him. Poor man.
I 've got some new cartridges. One is A Child's Year and although I find the images beautiful, it is quite a challenge to use as they are just silhouettes. I decided to make a large card for my sis. Hope she will like it.

I used chalks and Shimmerz to colour the image. The white cardstock is from American Crafts and is really good quality. The stamp is from JustRite, I used Nestabilities to cut it out. The patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye. I also used Swiss dots embossing folder an Martha stewart Doily lace punch. The pink ribbon is from Paperchase.

I sprayed Pearl Glimmer Mist over the top to make it shine and afix the chalk, which really worked. I tried to give them eyes too. Don't think that worked out like I wanted it. I used 3-D dots to adhere the image to the base. And off they go, rumpapapum, rumpapa rum,...

Hope you had a nice weekend. I sure did. The weather wasn't, but that doesn't bother a keen crafter.
Saturday, my DH drove me all the way to Surrey, first to Crafts U Love and then to The Craft Barn. He planned on buying me my Christmas presents. Ain't I a lucky girl!
Of course I couldn't wait to start using them... Don't worry DH, I've kept a few for you to wrap and give on Christmas day.
I decided to make some cards for 3 colleagues of mine, who will be leaving for other clinics. In one way or the other, they are all moving to be closer to their families.
And now the cards:

Couldn't resist this happy hippo from Motivet. I used some pink and mint Shimmerz and a lot of cutting and ebossing with the Cuttlebug. I used K&Co + Making Memories paper, flowers from American Crafts colored with Shimmerz.

This little girl is from The Greeting Farm. On this card I used Glimmer Mist. I must say I am won over by the Shimmerz. Less mess, easy little pots to use and cheaper than Glimmer Mist. Definetly my choice for making cards. The sentiments are made with JustRite stamps and I used my new circle Nestabilities to cut them out, which is a lot nicer then using the punch. I finally got the complete Copic set and I really enjoy them. It's worth investing in them.

Here is my card for the CPS142. I did stick with soft colors this time. Only the cookie tray had to be red. Hihi. I do actually love the way it has turned out and I'm getting quite addicted to my JustRite stamps and embossing. I just wish I found a way to cut or punch out the 1 5/8" circle. Such an odd size.

A close up to let you have a peek at the embossed gros-grain ribbon -I havn't tried that before- and the neat sentiment from JustRite. I have now seen them online in England...

Holly-Jolly Christmas

As promised, my next batch of Christmas cards.

Supplies: Clear, gold and holographic embossing powder, stamps: Hero Arts, Woodware, MakingMemories Passport and JustRite, card from craft supply, patterned paper from Sizzix Little Sizzles, ribbon from Paperchase, Xcut courner rounder, Cricut, Cuttlebug Swissdots, Copics, Stickles, Woodware round punch, McGill punch, buttons from John Lewis, Martha stewart punch.

I've stuck to the traditional colors for Christmas. Maybe I'll try something in pastels soon. I can't just stick to one style. I just like pretty things no matter what color or style.

I turned the cardstock into background paper by using clear embossing powder over some flourish stamps.

Tea for u - teabag holders

I like to share my next project with you. I 'm making some gift bags to put little teabags in.

The gift bag is cut with the Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.

Supplies: Papermania cardstock, K&Co Cut N'Paste paper, JustRite Monogram stampset, Versamagic embossing pad, Artemio gold embossing powder, Paperchase organza ribbon, vintage blue button, 99p store button covered in embossing powder, twine from craft supply, paper distresser.

A close up on the embossed detail. The circles have also been cut with the Cricut, as my punches come in half an inch increments, what would have been to big for the little tag.

6 Reindeer cards

I managed to finish these last 3 cards last night, although it was after midnight. I was almost going to give up, because I was too tired. I 'm glad I didn't. Today I 've started somrthing else. I 'm using the Basic Grey bauble stamps from Wassail...

I used Doodlebug Kaleidoscope paper and ribbon from Hobbycraft. All other supplies are the same as before.

On the final card I decided to tie the ribbon. I 'm quite pleased with myself. More Christmas cards for my stash. They'll be going to friends and colleagues. I want to give our patients something too, but I'm not sure if I can have 77 cards ready by Christmas...

Dancer, Prancer and Blitzen

I found some time to finish some Christmas cards I started last night.
Thanks to Regina from BBTB, I picked up the Christmas cart from Cricut again. I got it last Christmas togheter with the Expression, but obviously too late to make seasonal cards.
So it is the first time I 'm cutting these cute reindeers.
I also used the A Merry Little Christmas set from JustRite. I found the set in Belgium when I went to pick up my mom. They sell them in Pipoos, but only do the round 1 5/8 " wooden stamper.
Shame, but at least they have them. Can't find them in the UK.

Supplies: DCWV the Christmas Glitter Matstack and Text Prints the Paper Stack, Christmas cartridge from Cricut, stamps from Just Rite, ink from Tsukineko, brads from Making Memories, Woodware punches, leaf and berry sequins from Guttermann, snow sequin and red ribbon from craft supply, white gel pen from Sakura.

These cards are easy to make, it just requires a bit of patience for punching and layering.
I 've got 3 more reindeers and sentiments ready, but I 've run out of the text paper. So I might be using some Wassail paper or something from K&Co.

Or I might keep the reindeers and use them for a Christmas layout. We'll see..
